Selling.2.YES

December 2018

Whadya' got for me here at work, Santa?

Picture
I believe in Santa...always have.  Why wouldn’t I?  As a kid, I gave my Mom a list of things I wanted, and then they appeared under the tree on December 25th with a note saying they were from Santa.

As adults, we know Santa only works the residential market, not the business scene.  But maybe if we all are more specific and forthcoming about the things we want at work, Santa will expand services to include businesses like ours.  We might get better corporate gifts than the preverbal fruitcake.  Hey, it’s worth a try!

Santa works around the clock these days so it’s not too late to send him a list of what you want in your workplace; go ahead and send your request to Santa@Core6Advisors.com if you don't see it posted below.  I’ll make sure he gets it.  And I’ll make sure YOU GET what you want.

The Sales Executive list for Santa:
  1. I want my Sales Manager to “be present” when meeting with me, look me in the eye, and never reach for the phone during our sit-downs.  (I know that’s asking a lot…but I’ve been good this year.)
  2. I want my Sales Manager to counsel me frequently on how I can improve my performance including specific skill development coaching.
  3. I want my Sales Manager to lead with specific vision and prescriptive recommendations for the organization, my team, and me regarding standards, expectations, and goals.
  4. I don’t want my Sales Manager to give me a fruit cake as a holiday gift.  I want nothing but his/her time.
  5. I want my Sales Manager to genuinely applaud my wins and reinforce my good behaviors.
  6. I never want to work for a Sales Manager who has this LinkedIn profile description: “I’m a high-energy, results-driven, customer-focused senior sales leader with an extensive track record of building and leading successful sales teams and driving revenue in highly competitive digital-centric environments.”  (That’s not even a sentence.)
  7. Even though this is definitely too late for this year, I want my Sales Manager to lead us in a charity event for our holiday party (and not some stupid pub crawl event that fabricates fun…not all of us want to drink pints, yuk it up, and say stupid things to co-workers.  Didn't we have enough of that in college?)
  8. Finally, I want my Sales Manager to have a safe, restful, happy holidays with friends and family… ‘cuz I need him/her sharp on January 2!

The Sales Manager list for Santa:
  1. I want my Sales Executives to try their best at all times, and back their work with passion and care.
  2. I want my Sales Executives to do everything in their power to hit their number.
  3. I want my Sales Executives to manage their performance, not their results…which means putting thought, energy and smarts into their behaviors, actions and outputs.
  4. I want my Sales Executives to contribute positively and frequently to our sales team’s culture; I want them to participate by solving problems, not being one.
  5. I want my Sales Executives to use the phone part of their mobile device much more than the texting, email, or social functions.
  6. I want my Sales Executives to learn how to think for themselves – and do it often.
  7. I want my Sales Executives to be better collaborators within the sales org and the company at large.
  8. Finally, I want my Sales Executive to have a safe, restful, happy holidays with friends and family…’cuz I need him/her sharp on January 2!

Hope ya get all ya want from Santa this year...see ya next year.
