I'm a worrier...and today's worry is dedicated to sales managers.



I’m a worrier.  I’ve always been a worrier.  I’m pretty good at it, but my Mom, whoa…my MOM was a professional.  Many in my family are worriers.  I’m not ashamed of it.  Actually, I’m a bit proud.  Worry has its place.
 
I don’t worry about the standard stuff that most folks think and worry about.  I worry exclusively about sales managers.  Mostly, B2B sales managers. 
And boy, lemme tell ya, sales managers deserve worry...the sales manager job is insufferably hard.  No matter if you're a regional sales manager wrangling five sellers and two supporters, or a senior stud who has managers and scores of folks underneath…sales managing is difficult.  It comes at ya from the top…from the sides…from the bottom…all over the place.  The pressure, that is.    
 
The foundation for my worry comes from remembering life as a B2B seller.  Sure, there were times of fun and fulfillment, but I can’t forget feeling isolated, confused, fearful, and CONSTANTLY pressured.  My successes and wins came mostly because of the combination of my effort and a steady hand from my manager.  But what about those times when my manager was AWOL??
